On Friday, December 15th, the 8th graders participated in a program called ID Project. This innovative program goes beyond traditional education, emphasizing the importance of understanding, acceptance, and unity among students. ID project is designed to break down barriers and encourage students to get to know one another on a deeper level. Through a series of interactive games/activities/groupwork, the program aims to foster a sense of community while celebrating the different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives within the student body. This not only helps build empathy but also allows students to appreciate what their classmates brings to their school community. A cornerstone of the ID Project is its commitment to inclusivity. The program actively addresses issues of bias, prejudice, and stereotypes, providing students with the tools to challenge and overcome these barriers. By promoting open dialogue and understanding, the ID Project empowers students to create an environment where everyone feels accepted and valued. The 8th graders walked away from yesterday’s activity with a deeper understanding of one another. They learned that they had a lot more in common than what they realized. Likewise, they learned the importance of respecting one another’s differences.

Students in 8th grade Science recently studied the effects of earthquakes. To experiment students were asked to build a 5 story tower, within a certain budget that could survive an earthquake and hold weight. Mrs. Garison is super proud of all the students and their hard work! She shared that the students were surprised with their results as well!
